Notes from the Macy's Chair, Mrs. Leslie O'Brien:
Information for additional family members to be included in the World Projects Tour that the band has booked:
- an account must be established at the high school for each person travelling
- the persons travelling must be included on the list of travelers (will need correct spelling from your ID for airline ticketing)
- $350.00 needs to be in each account for each traveler by January 13th. NOTE: December 18th is the last day of school prior to the holiday break.
- if you would like to share a room to save on expenses - please let me know. I am starting a list of shared rooms. Scroll to the bottom of this page to send me an e-mail.
I have received an answer regarding FAQ about insurance: Travel insurance can be purchased. You can go online to the website (www.world-projects.com) and click "travel insurance" in the Quick Links - this will lead you through the process. You can also purchase travel insurance through their own sources (travel agent, AAA, own research, etc) should you wish to do so. Please note, in order to be covered for ANY reason (including preexisting medical conditions), most policies require the premium to be paid within 2-3 weeks of the deposit being made for the tour - by deposit, this means the individuals 1st payment (NOT the group's deposit).
Heres a little more info on the parade.
These are the handouts that were distributed and discussed at the Parent Meeting on Nov 17th.
- Tri-Fold Informational Brochure - available for distribution to family, sponsors, etc. Page 1 and Page 2

- Student Sponsor Letter - this is a sample letter that students can use to accompany sponsorship forms. Use it as is, use it as a guide to write your own, add your own touches (picture, favorite quote, inspirational band moment)
- Student letter/Sponsor form combined - this is a combination of the Student sponsor letter and student scholarship form

Airlines are always changing their rules as of right now if you would like to eat something on the plane you have to purchase a meal.
Soda, water, tea and coffee on some flights are free.
You may bring food or beverages on the plane if they are purchased after the security check point. If you have food or drinks before the check point they will ask you to throw them out.

- After the parade which is over at noon lunch is on our own, afternoon is a rest time, shop time, up to you.
- Thanksgiving dinner is provided.
- Friday morning have breakfast, pack up, check out of hotel; arrive at airport 2-3 hours before flight.
- Arrive in Portland airport. (TBA)
The Parade Route
- Parade starts at 77th and Central Park West
- Columbus Circle
- Broadway to Macy’s and 34th street, where we will perform on television
- The parade route ends at 34th and 7th street.
Parade starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 12:00 PM EST.
If you are going to watch the parade in New York, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are the most popular times to go to the city. It is strongly suggested that you arrive before 5:00 AM(It has been said that 3:00 am is not out of the norm) to get a spot at the curb. Have a few people with you to save your spot and watch your belongings.
The weather can be interesting this time of year. The parade will go on no matter what. It can be raining, it can be snow, hail, 10 degrees, or 60 and sunny. November is a funny time of year.

The general fund has to pay for all the extras on this list plus the $950.00 per student. That is why a student isn’t done working toward Macy’s just because “their” account says $800.00.
We all have to work toward the general fund. If the general fund doesn’t fill, we CAN NOT GO. If you know of any companies that would like to sponsor us, donate to us, help us out - Please let me know.
We have everything done for you.
We have made up brochures with all our information, letters, typed up and envelopes.
Please don’t just go and send a hand written letter to a company.
There is paypal, bank accounts and information they can send their donations to.
We have an accountant that is donating her time for this project.
Corporations, business, families don’t mind helping out projects but when they are asked two and three times they may get annoyed and decide not to help out our project.
We need to work together as a team.
Please let me know if you have asked a business or corporation for a donation for our band.
If your student receives a donation please remember to send a Thank you. That is very important. There will always be other events that you may want help with. They will remember your student if you send a thank you and maybe a little letter after the trip.
If you would like to help out, have any ideas please feel free to contact any of us.
Good luck with your journey. I know it will be a trip that will always be remembered.
Every month a few dollars in your students account will help, get involved with every fundraiser and send out those sponsorship forms, we can do this and make it happen.
Our band deserves this opportunity. They have worked hard and have earned it. We can all make it happen together.
